Palpatory Anatomy of the Belly: Fascial Architecture

This one-day training focuses on the structural framework of the abdomen and palpatory experience of all the connective tissues in the gut. These tissues are the building blocks of the fascial architecture of the belly and hold, wrap, discriminate, and boundary the entire nervous system, lymph and blood system, muscular system, and digestive and reproductive systems in the belly. All of these structures will be discussed and palpated.

  • Differentiate layers of the abdomen from belly wall to spine
  • Feel the parietal and visceral peritoneum
  • Feel the greater and lesser omenta
  • Feel the mesentery and mesocolon
  • Palpate suspensory ligaments for the liver, uterus, ovaries, bladder
  • Explore the roots of the navel
  • Understand the energetic and kinesthetic differences between hollow and solid organs
  • Understand the fascial architecture of the belly – how does it all hang together and stay there?
