Bruce Bentley

Bruce Bentley, MA, BA (Hons), BHSc, DrTCM, pioneered the research and practice of traditional medicine more than 30 years ago. He is the foremost international expert on the history and practice of cupping in different cultures from around the world. His research has taken him extensively throughout Asia, Europe, North Africa, and the Middle East. His formal training includes Western Medical Sciences, a five-year Doctors Program at the Chinese Acupuncture Hospital in Taiwan, a Masters Degree in Health Studies, a Bachelors of Health Sciences in Chinese Herbal Medicine, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Nutrition.

Besides maintaining a private practice in Melbourne Australia, Bruce is also the founder and director of Health Traditions, a school specializing in the education of Cupping Therapy, traditional Thai, Chinese, and Burmese massage, and External Injury Workshops. The Traditional Eastern and Western Cupping workshops with Bruce were the first of their kind on Cupping Therapy.

Bruce has held academic posts at universities in Australia, lecturing in the Sociology of Health and Illness and Chinese Medicine. He has also served long-term teaching appointments in many of the leading colleges of natural therapies in Australia. He has been employed as a full-time researcher for Australian state government projects. A regular contributor to journals and conference speaker, he holds a post as nonexecutive officer and sits on the steering committee of the International Cupping Therapy Association.
